Thank you, ICCP Gream Team!

It was such a delight to speak alongside Imam Refai about tadabbur and its connection to the natural world at the Islamic Community Center of Potomac for their Khalifatul Ardh Day.

Their Deen Energy conference was just one of the many amazing ways the ICCP Green Team is helping their community put Islamic principles of sustainability into practice.

It was truly an honor to be invited to connect with such an open, compassionate, and active community.

My Two Iftar Companions

I take these two to every iftar.

Here are the basic, simple tools of a Green Ramadan: a reusable water bottle and a stainless steel spork.

Whether I can fix my own plate at an iftar or I’m given a pre-packaged iftar meal, I never need a single-use water bottle or throw-away cutlery.

I usually just carry the reusable water bottle or put it in a backpack. The spork, I can just stash in my purse. It has a cover with a small carabiner attached.

Traveling or staying local, Sip & Stick are my two faithful companions.

(Truth be told, I usually take these two wherever I go all year round.)

Forty Green Hadith Now Available in Indonesian!

In anticipation of Ramadan, we’re excited to share that Forty Green Hadith is now available in Indonesian!

There are more Muslims in Indonesia than in Egypt or even Pakistan. About 13% of the world’s Muslims live in Indonesia and more than 85% of Indonesia’s population is Muslim. Indonesia’s rainforests, coasts and marine areas support an immense biodiversity of animal and plant life. Muslim Indonesians have a long and fruitful history of mining their faith tradition to address environmental challenges and protect both people and the planet.

We’re so grateful to all involved in bringing a fresh breath to Forty Green Hadith in this new translation!
